An Exciting Transition

Understanding the health needs and wellbeing of mothers are our first priorities. We sought the advice of top gastrointestinal experts and made a breakthrough in formulating a range of probiotics using only clinically proven strains. The selected strains of Human-Residential Bacteria (or HRB) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus strains are known to be more compatible with human body and human breast milk* due to their human origin. These strains are also evaluated by the most stringent institution in USA to be suitable even for infants and granted with GRAS status.

FAMIMOM is ideal for preconception, expectant and lactating mothers to promote healthier pregnancies and to maintain wellbeing after delivery.

Do you have enough Folic Acid during Pregnancy?

Folic acid is a man made form of folate which is Vitamin B9. Both folate and folic acid has the same benefits, which is to help the body create new cells. Folate plays an important role in the production of red blood cells and help to develop the brain and spinal cord of the fetus, which helps to lower the risk of birth defects. Deficiency in folate can cause spina bifida and anencephaly in newborns and thus folate deficiency is a main concern a mother has during pregnancy. Apart from taking folic acid itself, supplements such as probiotics can be taken to stimulate folate production.

Bifidobacterium which can be found in probiotics is one of the significant beneficial bacteria in the human gut microbiota that is beneficial in regulating folate production. Bifidobacterium produces B vitamins such as folic acid which helps to absorb nutrients.

Worry Free Diet with Iron

Iron is an essential nutrient required in pregnancy to produce hemoglobin (blood) for mother and fetus. Iron helps to transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the mother and fetus. Sufficient iron can prevent anemia and weakening of the mother’s immune system, thus reducing the possibility of an infection. Higher level of hemoglobin not only increases the oxygen carrying capacity but also helps with the blood loss occurring during delivery. Anemia occurring during pregnancy can increase the risk of pre-term birth and perinatal mortality. Some examples of dietary sources of iron are meats such as lean beef or chicken, salmons, lentils and spinach. To reduce the possibility of iron deficiency, supplements such as lactoferrin can be considered.

Lactoferrin regulates the absorption of delivery of iron to our body. It protects against bacterial infection by depriving the bacteria of essential nutrients. Lactoferrin in breast milk is found to protect breast fed infants against bacterial infections. Consuming adequate amount of lactoferrin in pregnancy can also reduce the risks of pre-term delivery and reduce neonatal death.

A:The window of opportunity during the first 1000 days is crucial to both the mother and the baby as they have very different health needs from preconception till full term. Research has shown that the mental and physical health of mom-to-be should be started as early as 3 months before pregnancy.  This includes the right diet and taking supplements such as probiotics, lactoferrin and DHA to regularly to boost immunity and reduce the risk of pre-term birth complications.

Where are the key benefits of FAMIMOM come from?

A:With mom-to-be’s prenatal health in mind, FAMIMOM is a first in probiotic formulation designed with a triple function to boost gut immunity, support folate production and iron absorption. These key benefits come from the special blend we termed ImmuG® (immunity from the gut) combining two families of well researched bacteria known as Human Residential Bifidobacteria (such as BB536) and Lactobacilli (such as Lactobacillus Acidophilus La-14 and Lactobacillus Rhamnosus HN001). Both are derived from human and animal source in clean and clinical environment.

What are the key benefits of the good bacteria in FAMIMOM?

A: The bacteria are selected because they have been proven to complement breast milk in terms of efficacy and safety. The strains are also widely used by paediatricians1 and infant formulas2 in Japan. The much-researched Lactobacillus Acidophilus La-14 strains not only reduces risk of pre-term complications, together with L. Rhamnosus HN001 it is found to be good for improving baby’s skin health.

Why is Lactoferrin added?

A: Another major discovery with our panel of gastrointestinal experts in Japan was how a protein in breast milk known as Lactoferrin can help in building up defence mechanism against infection. Probiotics formulated with Lactoferrin is especially helpful for mom-to-be and lactating mothers who often keep a very busy schedule juggling between a full-time job and the family.

Being a second time mom, I am glad I found FAMIMOM. This pregnancy has been smoother as I feel I have lesser mood swings, skin allergies and frequency of falling sick. Also, FAMIMOM has the recommended daily level of DHA and Lactoferrin which can helps in the brain development of my baby and also increase my immunity during this crucial period.
